Become part of the Rowan tree's long and magical history. Join Cordial Wildcrafted Consumables at The London Chef to learn how to preserve traditional jelly made from local, hand-harvested Rowan berries—just in time for Yuletide gift giving! 

From warding off witches and mischievous fairies to protecting homes from lightning—the Rowan tree has long been considered a sacred tree. And it just so happens to produce gorgeous berries that make a rather tart and interesting jelly! Well-loved from Scotland to Scandinavia, it's also the traditional accompaniment to twelfth-cake during the Christmas season. Perfect with venison, turkey or pork and lovely with a good chunk of cheese—Rowan berry jelly will add a little magical something-something to your holiday entertaining.

This is a hands-on intro to canning class so we'll go over the basics of proper preservation practices. No previous canning experience is required.

Workshop fees include ingredients, jelly jars, take-home instructions and a new appreciation for those berries you may have thought were poisonous. All you have to bring is your fine self and an apron to protect your fine finery.

And the end of the class we'll congratulate ourselves, admire our handiwork and sit down together to make merry with tea & treats. You WILL leave thinking that it's starting to look a lot like Christmas.

If you have kids aged 5-12, register them in our Wildcrafted Cookie Class held at the same time! Parents can join the grownups in the preserving workshop while the kids bake, craft and play! 

Taught by local actor and all around kid-magnet, Connie McConnell, the kids will cut out Christmas tree cookies made from real Christmas trees that they'll package up in decorative bags for holiday gift giving! They'll also make nature-based crafts, play holiday games and tuck in to tea and treats at the end of the class. Kids take home their cookies and wild craft—plus, a new appreciation for wild foods and some handy baking knowledge for future kitchen fun! 

Please note, the Wildcrafted Cookie Class is only open to children accompanied by an adult registered in the Yuletide Wildcrafted Jelly workshop.
